Darrin E. Jones is a senior law enforcement official seconded by the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to INTERPOL General Secretariat, Lyon, France, where he is serving as the Executive Director Partnerships and Planning since September 2023.
In his current capacity, Mr Jones oversees the strategic portfolio of INTERPOL, including the implementation of the Organization’s strategic framework and its crosscutting programmatic planning and development. He also spearheads INTERPOL’s strategic outreach and partnerships endeavors vis-a-vis member States, regional organizations, and multilateral institutions, as well as coordinates the Organization’s resource mobilization efforts and corporate and external communication.
Mr Jones brings to the position a wealth of experience as a career law enforcement officer with more than 26 years in the FBI where he last served as Assistant Director for Strategic Technology Policy before his current secondment at INTERPOL. In April 2020, Mr. Jones was appointed as the Executive Assistant Director of the FBI’s Science & Technology Branch, where he led over 5,000 technical professionals and executives that comprise the FBI’s Laboratory Division (LD), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division, and Operational Technology Division (OTD). In 2019, Mr. Jones was appointed as the Assistant Director of the FBI’s IT Infrastructure Division.
Mr. Jones earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska, and an advanced certification in Information Security from Carnegie-Mellon University. A native of Nebraska, United States, Mr. Jones is married and the father of two children.
