Chuck Appleby is Editor in Chief at the Scottsdale Institute (SI), a not-for-profit membership organization of over 60 prominent, advanced, not-for-profit U.S. health systems and academic medical centers. SI’s mission is to improve healthcare quality, efficiency and personal experience through IT-enabled transformation. At SI, Chuck’s focus is on writing, communicating and publishing healthcare thought-leadership content, drawing on nearly four decades’ experience as a journalist, writer, media relations and marketing communications consultant.
Specializing in healthcare and IT, Chuck has interviewed many of the nation’s most prominent experts and visionaries, among them CEOs and other senior executives at Ascension, CommonSpirit, Duke Health, Henry Ford Health, Kaiser Permanente, Mass General Brigham, Stanford Health Care and Trinity Health. His corporate healthcare clients include Deloitte, Epic, Press Ganey and Nuance (Microsoft).
His current work at SI explores the role of AI in healthcare. Among his works are “AI Use Cases in Healthcare,” and “Chief AI Officers Outlook.” He authored a white paper on the conference “Augmented Ingenuity: AI for Patient Safety,” which was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.
